Well, I came across a supersix intake manifold and by tommorow I sort of need to know if I should take it. Does it fit a 318 carb? I got an extra one of those and figured that supersix manifolds don't come around much(someone alread stole the carb  ). If not, is anyone interested enough in one to where it would be worthwhile for me to pick it up? It's off a Volar station wagon, little rusty but I didn't see cracks. I need to know by tommorow at 12:30-1:00, that's when I plan to head back to the wrecking yard to liberate some spindles.

Never hurts to grab it, one more manifold in circulation rather than in the crusher. Don't forget the linkage and kickdown rod, if any are left.

Cool, I'll get myself a manifold then, I don't think the linkage was there though, the air cleaner was there, only the carb was gone.

It'll fit the bbd (/6 or 318). With adapter it'll fit a Weber DGV or DGS. With a different adapter it'll fit a Holley 2300. And, a TBI from a 88-91 Dodge truck will bolt right on... Have fun.

Mnecaise, I'm curious to know more about your TBI setup. I have an '89 Dodge pickup with the factory TBI, and the bolt pattern is not the same as any 2bbl carb -- it's parallellogrammatic in shape, rather than rectangular.

Did you adapt Dodge truck TBI to your slant? Just the throttle body, or the whole system? This TBI system is kind of a clunker as far as driveability and MPG goes, but it does have some advantages over carburetors, and the MPG problem can mostly be fixed if you can get away from the poorly programmed Chrysler controller they used in these trucks...

Tell us more about your setup!

Yes, a 318 carb will fit; you'll have to modify the choke lever to use the 225 auto choke stove.

Rust is good, it means it's not the cruddy aluminum one.

Hmmm... I'm not running the Dodge TBI. I HAD been told it was a direct bolt on; but, hadn't compared one to the manifold yet. Apparently, I was told wrong

Dakota v6 TBI throttle bodies made by Holley were used on early Dakotas. They have the same bolt pattern as a BBD. My GF has one on her Dakota. It never runs well, gets poor mileage. The biggest deal for me is that it is too tall to easily fit under an early abody hood.
The only attraction here is the bolt pattern.

H'm. See, here's the thing: The 3.9 was carbureted in the Dakota and Ram through '88. TBI, with the Holley-built throttle body, came along in '89. The same throttle body-to-intake gasket is used on the '89-'91 3.9 V6 and the '89-'91 5.2 and 5.9 V8s in Dakota and Ram trucks. Mine's a 5.2, '89, it has only one set of four bolt holes, in a pattern that is not the same as the BBD. The BBD uses a rectangular bolt pattern, the TBI uses a parallellogram.

Is it possible there was an early-production or variant form of the TB that I'm not aware of? Absolutely. Is it possible such a variant doesn't show up in the factory or aftermarket parts books? Well, yeah, anything's possible, but that's less likely.

Anyhow, it's not too important -- as you say, the '89-'91 Dodge truck TBI is not a particularly marvelous system!

The 87 3.9 TBI throttle body is the same as a BBD. It is also a piece of $#!+.

I wasn't aware there was any TBI in the Dodge truck line in '87; my info has it starting in '89. Which emissions package is your TBI '87 Dakota equipped with?

And mike takes the Dodge TBI off the table as an option.

Note to self: when converting to fuel injection, use MFI.
