Does anyone remember LeRoi Smith's futuristic roadster? It showed up on e-bay a few months ago. It had a slant with triple sidedrafts on it. Is there any info on this engine? Aluminum? Cam? Compression? How did the car run? Was it ever even driven hard? Just curious about the only slant powered AMBR winner in history 8) .

The only issue of Street Rodder I ever bought happened to have a feature article on it (the only feature car that didn't use Chevy V8 power, interestingly enough...). Here's what I can find on it:

Engine: Aluminum 225
Three side-draft Webers on a custom tubular manifold
Custom tube headers
Cam and compression are unknown, but this was originally a Hyper-Pak engine. I expect the specs are straight out of the NASCAR version.

Transmission: 904, lools like a push button but I'm not sure.

Chassis: VW Beetle front suspension
Triumph disc brakes
Dodge rear axle of unknown specs
Coil-over rear suspension with two trailing arms and a Panhard rod
Hands Wheels intended for a Porsche

I can't find any information about horsepower, quarter mile times, or any racing - this is Street Rodder magazine we're talking about.

Thanks for the info, Matt. Which issue was that? Maybe I can get a reprint.
Sounds like a fun ride - to bad if they didn't run it!
