i know, not that big of a deal to some, but i have been tripping over these parts for a year now, and they are finally on the car. installed mopar performance header (JR header), and a factory aluminum intake and bbd carb first let me say that i have installed alot of v-8 headers and this thing with power steering was a drop in. i didnt have dimple one pipe and it almost fell in from the top. after i gave it a love tap though with a bfh. made my own braket for the throttle cable and incorporated the always track friendly 2 return springs. kick down linkage was a bit more of a issue but not that bad--have welder and cut off wheel and anything is possible. also, as i posted last week, my carb fits are over too. i switched to a bbd that i managed to rebuild without needing a kit---good thing, i dont know the carb number, and bolted it on and it was 90% there on factory settings. idled it, cruised it, and got on it, and it was lean all the way around so i opened up the jets to .094 with the stock metering rods and gave the idle screws another 1/4 turn out and now the plugs are getting a little color on them. fine tuning to be done when time permits, going to the track if it doesnt rain wed night, i will post results as this is all i have done so far from last time. looking to pick up another second from the 19.15-19.20's it ran last year with the one barrel and exhaust manifold. next on the list is to drop in the 3 speed manual trans---not good for bracket racing but i love to shift gears and so does the wife so thats what its getting. been through this before, all the four speed stuff is for my other dart thats getting a bigblock and turbo installed now too. --chad |

Big deal indeed! It's a big step and I cant wait for my marine engine to come back so I can bolt it in with the 2bbl and feel the difference. Enjoy it! |

marine engine huh? whats that all about? some hidden power? hope it goes good for you. i will post my times in the virtual dragstrip section. jsut got back from a drive, it does feel a bit stronger. still need to redo the rest of the exahst in a more proper size but this will tell what these parts alone will do. --chad |

marine specs: -forged pistons, stock dimensions -copper coated connecting rods -looser main bearing tolerances -inside of block coated with Glyptal -exterior primed with Epoxy -marine profile cam (not used) -explosion proof starter and distributor (not used) -also used moly rings, hardened oil pump drive gear and 1" pump, hardened valve seats and dynamically balanced rotating assembly. Super Six intake with Carter BBD. No power improvements over stock save for some bowl blending around the new valve seats. You should pick up more power with larger exhaust pipes. Dont forget clean underwear! |
