i thought id write and tell you guys about a little upgrade i made to my instrument cluster of my 73 dart. i got some mini gauges for christmas that were an inch and a half in diameter. it was a 3 gauge pod with oil pressure, ammeter and temp gauges. i was going to mount them under me dash when i started looking at them and noticed they were almost the exact same size as the round gauges in my instrument cluster. i had an extra face plate laying around so i started wroking on it and reamed the holes out just enough that the aftermarket gauges would slide right in from the front. i had to take the plastic off that covered the old gauges first though. i kept my factory speedometer and now have those 3 gauges to the left of the speedometer and the good for nothing dummy lights to the right. i tried to get a gas gauge that was the same size to mount but they only come in 2 1/4 evidently. this may be tough to understand unless your instrument cluster is the same as mine but if you catch my drift you can see what a neat set up i stumbled upon. id post a pic but i havent quite got it all figured out yet. i dont know how to download my pics onto the internet or what not to have a url for them. i hope that someone might get some good out of my babbling but if anyone has a question, shoot and ill do my best to explain and describe it. |
