Have the opportunity of picking this car up cheap...75 dart 4dr. /6 4spd.overdrive.I remember as a kid,in trouble w the law ,that many of these cars were ordered by various governments due to there gas mileage capabilities.{hit in the rear w damage to taighlight and bulged out quarter..} What r the benefits of this rig???I'm assuming it would b great for three on the tree cars....But wouldn't u have to put the floor piece in ???? |

if the engine is tuned correctly and in good condition this trans will considerably improve gas mileage in town and on the highway. i have one in a 76 dodge aspen which regularly got 23 town and 28-29 onthe highway with the sl6 and 4spd od and a 3.23 rear. engine also lasts longer. i have a 76 feather duster with sl6 4 spd od and 2.94 rear which gets the same around town but will do 30 and 32 onthe highway. definitely a good investment. would prefer the 3.23 rear because it is better off the line. the 2.94 is sluggish in first. good luck |

I'm doing this swap now and I hope it's well worth the effort going from three on tree to the floor shifted 833-OD. Yes, you will have to cut off the floor shift floor hump from the donor car, cut a hole in the floor pan of your car and weld the hump in place. There are several articles, some I believe on this web site and elsewhere about about doing this swap and specifically the hump transfer. I have a 8.25 rear with 3.21 gears which I think will be a good compromise with about the same grunt as my old 3 speed/7.25 rear with 3.23 gears, plus the addition of the OD gear for better mileage. So if the 75' OD car is a good buy go for it! |

I did this swap, and on the freeway I'm getting about 30 MPG, WITH a Super Six set up, too! |

well I was too lazy to pick this car up ,so I let my buddy rhinosix have a shot at it..Well he offerred him $250 and the guy took it ...We brought a battery ,and after discovering that the only thing keeping this thing off the road was a bad pos batt connection she fired right up!!! What rearend ratio did most 75 dart 4 dr /6 4spd. overdrives come with??? no air or trailer options that I'm aware of..... |
