Im gonna run my valves tomorrow on my Comp Cams 264s and a lready know how to adjust the valves but was wondering what I need to set my lash at for cold settings for initial startup. The lash settings for my cam are .010 intake and .012 exuast(The card doesnt say but Im assuming thats a hot setting).
Also ,what are the determining factors for needing shorter pushrods.
Thanks in advance.

I installed the head on my 225 without the rocker shaft assembly, I then installed a stock pushrod on an intake and an exhaust on the same piston, installed the rocker assembly to spec and rolled the crank over by hand and watched the pushrod cups and the adjuster screws....I was 'ok' on one, but on the intake side (I think...been a while...) the cup was angled enough that it's edge caught the underside of the rocker arm...at that point I pulled the assembly and installed a home made adjustable push rod and rechecked things until things looked right, checked the rise with dial indicator to make sure I didn't loose anything (or at least the adjustment would make up for it by one or two threads...)...

To make an adjustable pushrod, during the first install find a spot about 1-2" down from the top of the cup that won't interfere with the head or lifter gallery, mark it, and cut it through with a bandsaw or hasksaw...tap the inside of both pieces and then install a 1 1/2" peice of 1/4" allthread (the kind they use for air cleaner hold downs on aftermarket carbs), and two nuts to lock the ends apart...assemble.

When you have the correct measurements, you can either use a long caliper to order a set from like comp cams, etc...or you can just send the rod with an order form to a custom pushrod place in your area, or(http://www.pushrods.net/)....

this is where attention to detail might tax your patience, you're almost there...
