I have a 1970 Dodge Dart Custom. I'm curious as to how one would go about cleaning out a trunk... it's got grease all over the place. Also, is there a way to purchase a trunk liner or do I have to make one myself (if so, what material is good?). |

We often have $5000 worth of racing snowboards in the trunk of the Valiant. They are often wet and snowy. With the protection of the car and the boards in mind I made my own trunk liner. I used Houseboat carpeting. It has the surface texture of indoor/outdoor carpet but has a tough rubber backing that is waterproof. Any water on the carpet gets absorbed but does not seep through. I bought enough burgandy carpet for $40cdn to do the whole trunk and sides. The stuff sews very easily (right sides together) with my industrial machine. A treadle might also work. For those who can fit but not sew: treat it like easy sheet metal,,,cut all the pieces and duct tape them together . Take them all taped together and get them sewn at an upholstery shop(right sides together). If you want to get fancy sew vinyl on the edges (gawd nose I dint) 5 years and it still looks like new. |
