The ignition in my demon has been converted by a previous owner. It is unlike the conversions I have seen or read about that use a ECU. I am unclear of what this is or if anyone has seen this before. I am unsure if the distributor was replaced, and this may be a "pertronix" or similar system. I have found no indications as to what brand it is. I know with the mopar conversion you use a 4 pin ecu box. On mine I have 2 wires leading out of the distributor, one goes to the negative side of the coil, and the other lead runs to a ballast resistor near the master cylinder and from there splits to two wires that run back into the harness. Under the cap, there is a what appears to be a hall-effect type of setup. Sound like some strange chrysler conversion? Aftermarket "pertronix" type deal? Or maybe some homespun design. I do want to go the mopar or possibly a MSD 6 setup for a hotter spark. Anyone have any ideas what I have?
Thanks

Jesse

Well the mopar electronic ignition also used a magnetic pickup in the distributor too so unless you take a picture for us it will be hard to tell.

The msd6a box can work with stock points, pertronix, and mopar magnetic pickups. If used with points, they will last much longer because only a low current/voltage signal will be going through them. So chances are you can still use an msd box with your current distributor.

So you have no ignition box under your hood, just what appears to be a stock points system + pickup under distributor cap? That would most likely mean you have one of those pertronix ignitors (I believe mallory also makes an equivalent points replacment called uni-lite or something like that).
