Okay, I'm going to do the electronic ignition conversion on my 61 Valiant, and I can't decide where to mount the box itself. I've got the MP wiring harness, and they don't give you very much wire.

Where did you mount yours?

Nick,
Hates points!

Post subject:  Anyplace you like

Different cars had many locations. Look for a spot on the firewall with the correct bolt spread stamped, but I don't know if they had it on cars that age yet. The simple answer is anyplace dry that the wires will reach.

Just be sure the box is well grounded. I personally ran a wire directly to the negative battery terminal, but you can just clean the back of the box and sand the paint off the spot you finally pick.

Good Luck.

Post subject:  Control Box location

My daughter's 61 has it mounted on the right fender
on the shelf like area just to the rear of the shock absorber.
I think hers is a factory unit taken from a later car and so
is not using the MP harness. But that location is in fairly
close proximity to the distributor.
