Need some adjustment advices, did wake up my old Slant from a two and a half years of hybernation, did run on first attempt, but it has terribly high idling, and runs pretty uneven, what to check out for, turning the adjustment screw makes the engine die.

Sounds like a vacuum leak, if you turn it richer does it die, or only when you turn the screws in?

Only when turning screw inwards, otherwise it revs higher, don't suspect vacuum leak, since its a simple 1bbl Holley 1920.

Only vacuum is the hose to the distributor. Car not fitted with power brakes.

Besieds, why does the brake pedal, travels down the floor when shifting from neutral to D or R on a non-servo equipped car?

If you turn it in and it dies, that's normal...
If it's revving high when you turn it out, that can be normal in some instances, but....

With it revving high, put a shop rag over the carb top with the air cleaner off of it...this should stop your engine... if it continues to run (roughly, etc...), make sure to get a good seal on the towel, if that doesn't stop it, you have a vaccuum leak somewhere at the carb flange, gasket, manifold gasket getting air in where it's not supposed to be...you can actually spray some light oil, or brake cleaner while it's revving and if the rev goes 'down' then you've found a problem spot that needs to be sealed...
