Post subject:  Temperature Gauge Sending Unit

I recently got all of the Dart's gauges working again, the only problem is that the previous owner clipped the wire that ran to the Temp gauge and then installed a cheap aftermarket gauge under the dash. So, I went and bought what I believe to be the correct sending unit from the parts store and hooked it to the original wire with a ring connector. Now it just pegs out when attatched. I'm assuming that it's because I used a ring connector and nut instead of the original style "boot". If this is the case, where on earth can I find the proper connector?

thanks,
josh

It shouldn't matter how you connected the wires together. Does your fuel gauge work correctly? If not, then the voltage limiter is bad. This will need to be replaced. The voltage limiter should be located on the dash circuit board next to the fuel gauge.

All the other gauges are working fine. I wired in the voltage limiter and hooked everything up, and the fuel gauge works flawlessly. My problem is just the temp gauge. as soon as I touch the wire to it, the gauge pegs out to hot.

Either the new sending unit is shorted or your "old" wire is grounded some where along its length.
