Over the weekend I installed the new CR11A gas tank I purchased off ebay for $113.50 plus shipping. This is cheaper then any other that I could find on the net. These tanks show up every 7 days. The seller, scron is prompt with delivery.

Since I had an intermitent gas gauge, I took a long look at what the problem may have been. The gauge was grounded, testing the gauge circuit, by grounding out the gas tank plug showed the gauge itself to be working. The temp gauge was working OK. So that meant a good voltage limiter. All plugs on the circuit board on the cluster when cleaned bright and shinned. The problem turned out to be a pin hole in the float. I fixed it, by drilling the pin hole to 1/16" and shook the gas out. I sanded the brass to be nice and shiny, then I took out my trusty weller soldering gun and soldered the hole close. Problem solved.

Awe the joy of 3/4 tank of gas. None of the worry about "do I have enough gas to make it" and that embarassing feeling as you slowly glide to curb when you don't. Now I should be able to get rid of the 2.5 gallon plastic "auxiliary tank" in the trunk and will be able to cruise farther the 90 miles without worry.
