I have a Actron dial back timing light and have always found it helpful for seting total advance on early slants as it is impossible to use a timing tape. Now I run MSD6A ignitions on most of my slants and have never had trouble timing them but my buddy comes by the shop today while Im installing a MSD6A on my Val and he says that he saw some TV show where they were building a Ford of some sort and was using a MSD and said not to use a dial back light but to use a standard light as the timing would be off with the dial back.I read through the instructions and didnt read anything to support that (I just about have the instructions memorized anyway and have only noticed that you shouldnt run solid wires). Has anyone else heard this or has my buddy been sniffing too many exaust fumes??

P.S.
It was on TV so it must be right.

I saw that part of the show, over the weekend. They were using an MSD "DIGITAL 6", which they said has a square wave output. You and I, both use the MSD 6a, which is a different animal.
