My daily driver is Dodge Aspen. It works really well ,but my problem is its weak acceleration . All is stock and the engine is driven only 40000miles(enqine is 1986 model). I suspect that the car performs as new ,but that isn`t quite enough for me ,so does anybody know any CHEAP tips to make my aspen a little bit faster ? (Only engine modifications ,becose i dont want to loose its great economy by changin the gearing...)

A super-6 is a start... but not any panacea.

I believe it would give you 5 additional Horses (not sure about torque). Is your current Carb in good tune? If the car is running "really good", then you might consider the super-6. It's NOT going to make a rocket ship out of the car, but it'll pick up a little better. If you get one, make sure you get the kickdown with it. Don't let anyone rip you off getting a S6, a complete one with carb, intake, exhaust, and kickdown can be had for ~$120 in good condition, not the $250 some places seem to want. Heck, if you don't have one already, post here in the parts wanted area... and JOIN!

There are a LOT of people on /6.org who know TONS of ways to make power... I'm relatively new to the wonderful leaning 6 world.

There is no cheaper or easier way around the problem you are having or chrysler would have built them that way from the factory.

The 2.76 rear end gears give you economy but it's a dog off the line. If you want more launch (cheaply) , you've got to give up some of that highway economy. Your non-highway mileage might even improve, since you won't have to floor it just to make it start moving. (But I think you may still floor it, just for fun )

I've got a super sixed aspen with open exhaust and a mildly ported head. It runs great, but I only get around 19 sec 1/4 miles, due to the 2.76 gears, and I can't even chirp the tires on dry pavement yet.

Honestly, for the price of the upgrades, the rear end swap will pay for many years of gas compared to anything else I can figure. Consider also the additional wear you will cause to your transmission by trying to overcome the rear end ratio by adding more power.

You won't regret 3.23 gears, unless you mostly drive at high speeds, and they'll be lots more fun at stop lights.

I've considered low profile tires on the rear will cheaply overcome your gearing some, but will have the same effect on mileage. Maybe give it a try with tires to see if you can live with the mileage change.

I 2nd that notion. 3.23's man... I've got a 77 volare 2 dr.../6 supersix. Used to have same year,model supersix wagon. The wagon was faster cuz I've since found out that supersix wagons came with 2.91 gears as opposed to my 2 drs. 2.76... Very much enough of a difference!!

I have 2.76's under my duster and I hate them. It has pretty poor acceleration and the mileage isn't all that great either. @ 15MPG
