hello im not very mechanically inclined but im learning here as i go...i have a 72 plymouth scamp with a 225...so heres my problem...when i accelerate the engine acts like it wants to stall and when its been running for awhile it does stall....so far i replaced my fuel filter and it ran better that day then the next day it started again...so i been reading my manual and i was thinking to replace the spark plugs and wires..could this fix the problem?? thanks for the help..

A complete tune up will work wonders. Replace the spark plugs, wires, points and condenser (in distributer, if you still run them), cap and rotor, and all the filters, including the PCV valve and crank case breather. You may also want to step up the jet size in the carburetor, an easy project. This will get more fuel to the engine when you accelerate. Make sure your choke is fully open when the engine is warm.

Ditto what Eric said. Also, you may want to check your valve adjustment and make sure your choke is set and functioning proerly and that your choke pulloff diaphragm isn't ruptured.

Hmm, if you said it ran better after you replaced the fuel filter, then started going poorly again I suspect you may have some dirt/sediment/rust/etc in your tank. Pull off the new filter and look into the inlet side to see if you can spot anything.

Has the tank been replaced before? Before your next fill up when your gas level is low pull out the sending unit and take a look into your tank.
