Here is the latest madness I've gotten myself into... Rolling Eyes

It started as a Slant 6 car... The guys at Promax Carbs in Indy put it on the bottle to get it into the 13's... Then they put a 340 in it (The one that won 2nd place in the Mopar Muscle engine builder's challenge)... When they sold the 340 they put the "Ruster Duster" up for sale on Moparts...

That's where I came into the picture! Very Happy

wvenable and DadTruck were nice enough to go over and scout it out for me, and even keep it a secret... Laughing

Then at the awards banquet at Pigeon Forge I told a few folks about it and let the secret out... I had planned to keep it under wraps until it actually hit the streets/strips, but I have absolutely no self-control (just ask Wayne - or better yet, ask his wife! Shocked ) Nah! Scratch that! Just ask MY wife! She'll give you an ear full... Embarassed

Anyway, the plan is to put the engine and tranny out of GodsRods Duster I http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5217 in this thing, drive it on the street, bracket race it locally and hopefully make it to a Slant 6 race or two.

It will be a father/son project with my two oldest (and possibly all 4 Shocked ) sons! Very Happy

These threads are not much good without some photos, so here are the "spy shots" DadTruck sent me. Enjoy! Wink

Rob, just clicked into the pictures and my Weroot stopped a nasty downloader trying to install itself on my machine.

But anywhoo, a man can never have too many Dusters. Very Happy

I thought about buying that car too. Confused

Yes, that is very bad. I usually only see them off of Russian porn sites. Shocked

Talk to me about the Duster. I'm listening. Very Happy

That car has the exact shifter I just sold to Rick Covalt. Laughing

Must be an Imageshack thing. I went back in the black Duster site and nothing.

Went to your white Duster pics and it hit the pop-up blocker when I clicked on a pic.

Not an encouraging post, Wayne. Sad You're never gonna get a car on track that way! Surprised

Dennis,

1. Will '64-5 Valiant fenders/hood/grille fit on a '66? I prefer the earlier look. Something I can work on changing later... Very Happy

2. How bad is the "Piggy"? You have often talked it down... Confused

3. Is it originally a red car, or a repaint? Red cars scare me! Shocked

I guess I'm just gonna have to make a Road Trip up North... Should I bring the Duster with me?

(Or you can bring the Piggy down here... Laughing )

AFAIK, you have to change the front ends as a package, grilles and such do not fit correctly in different year fascia.

The red car is really not pristine. It needs floor pans and the driver's quarter is pretty beat.

It was originally a blue car.

Come on up, but I really don't need another Duster project. I have one I'll send home with you though.

Don't worry, Wayne will be your conscience. Twisted Evil

Yeah, that "Change Over" year just doesn't quite do it for me. I really like the pointed look of the '64-5 cars. I wasn't sure if the fender to door body lines were the same.

The Duster still needs rear floors, taillight panel and could use better fenders... Rolling Eyes

I like blue! Very Happy

I'll come up with an empty trailer then... Or we could just swap Dusters... Laughing

Wayne didn't talk me out of the first Duster! Shocked He's such an enabler... Laughing

Bring your checkbook, you never know what you'll end up with. You could even be the proud owner of a Daytona. Laughing

The red car I have seen in Person oh 2008ish??

It gets the job done. Besides Floor pans and nice fenders add lots of weight to your car... Very Happy
