One word: Raid.

I hate wasps, and wasps love Georgia and old cars. I keep a can in every car and by each door to my house, in the garage, other places. I get kidded a lot about alwez having a can within reach wherever I am. I put on black face and conduct clandestine operations at nite in the summer (9 months out of the year) to search and destroy the little bastards in their nests under my junk, up in wheelwells, door jambs, under my car trailer, etc. etc.

Worst stinging insect encounter I have ever had.

I one time stirred up a yellow jacket nest while I was turning a field with our tractor. I jumped off the tractor, still moving and headed for the pond. I wasn't really that concerned about the tractor, it could only go so far (trees on both ends of the field).

I am a beekeeper and I am pretty well tolerant of stings, but I hate yellowjackets. They serve no purpose whatsoever. Hornets do make those awesome nests, such as this on which I have hanging in my bedroom.

I enjoy it when one of the little bastards flies into the bugzapper and sizzles for about 30 minutes.

I'm with you. I like bees, unless they are the Africanized variety, they are docile and mind their own business and even make honey. Wasps, yellow jackets, hornets and their kin are the scourge of the earth in my book. I know every creature has a right to exist, but I still hate 'em!

Lol, what makes you think those that drink don't do that also? I'd even wager it's more fun to watch an inebriated guy swinging the racket. (Never seen someone do it sober...)

They say that the Africanized bees will be in Georgia by the end of this year. After that I might leave the beekeeping business

The bees I raise are called Midnights. They are almost solid black with a little bit of yellow. Extremely docile and easy to handle. About as gentle as dirt daubers. They do make a huge mess though. Like to glue everything inside the bee box together with LOTS of beeswax. Makes it a pain in the butt at harvest time. My dad raises these mean-ass german bees which I hate with a passion. They won't bother you until you get to the last beebox and then zillions of them come out ready to fight. Also like to follow you into the cab of the truck and drive you nuts on the way home.

Beekeeping is getting very hard though. Hive beetles have almost killed all of the wild swarms and foul-brood(gross disease) is becoming drug resistant.
