 Post subject: heat riser valve
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2001 12:08 pm
The heat riser valve on my 65 valiant 170 is stuck (What's new). Anyway, I've tried to free it but it's being stubborn. I'm going to upgrade to a super six soon but until then, which position should I leave it stuck in? Towards the block or away from it? Any input?

Thanks
Alex

Not sure towards or away BUT.....
You want it open ...So you want the weight on the end of the shaft at it's lowest point that will be open..... (normaly when the spring gets hot it unloads and the weight pulls it open) Iodine can also help free them up

The "flap" or round counter weight will move towards the block, rotate it counter-clockwise.
