I just re-read an article from June 96' Mopar Muscle regarding this swap. To compensate for
the extra width, they shifted the center line of
a pair of Rallye's inward by adding 2.5" spacer resulting in 14x8
wheel using P235/60R14's.

1) Is that wheel a little to wide for that tire?
2) What is the wheel well clearance on that tire?
3) On my 67' Dart, I have to jack the body to get

the 13" out. How hard will it be with this tire/wheel combo?
4) I'm sure Stockton wheel can make the wheel mods
(they used Harrison repairs in MD) Any idea on cost?

Any info is appreciated?

Hi,

I've had Moser do this for me...there's not enough meat on a 'B' body axle, you need to start with a 'C' body axle.

When this is done, you'll need to use the 'B' or 'C' body backing plates and drums (obviously) because the axle standout is larger on 'B' and 'C' than it is on the 'A' axle.

good luck,

I got my 8 3/4 axles from a '72 pickup. I have not sent these to Moser yet.

Whatever axle you use make sure that the bolt pattern matches the wheels you plan to use. C-
bodies except for the Imperial ought to be 4 1/2".

Moser Engineering has set-up hundreds of these A-Body rears and they will have all the info. you need to do the job right.

I would go with the real common 5 on 4 1/2 and use the "small" & light 10 x 2 1/2" rear brakes instead of the 11 x 3" units

I have all this stuff in my dragcar including Moser axles and it works flawlessly.

I am really surprized that Mopar Muscle had the "guts" to print that, it is not a good way to go.

For an A-Body, especially a Dart with the low rear fender wheelwell, you want to go inward, not outward. Sure, you can spend the time and $$$ on measuring and making special off-set wheels but what about the spring pads? These are also in the wrong position for the A-body. I know, some will say.... "just pull the springs outward untill the "B" pad holes line-up, it's only a 1/2" per side".... Not on my racecar!

Spend your money on getting the right parts for the car, not on tring to get the wrong stuff to work.

Get under your car and measure your current set-up for wheelwell clearance, you will find that things are already pretty well centered.
(and yes 235 60 14s can be put under a Dart, but it is real tight)
