This afternoon, i noticed a hole in the left part of my 7 1/4" rearend. It really looks like factory. Since the "T" for the brakelines is closeby and also has a hole in it i'm wondering : would that be a threaded hole to screw the T in position? I managed to screw in a bolt but it almost felt like i was making the threads myself so... Hope I didn't do anything wrong...

Without seeing a picture, I guess you are probably seeing the vent hole. This is meant to have a little vent cap in it to keep out splashed water, but allow hot air to escape.

Yeah; there should be a little hose barb that screws in the hole and serves to both attach the brake T and vent the rear. The threads will be some flavor of NPT (not sure, but I'd guess around 5/16).

Do I really risk something by letting it breathe in the air? Or by blocking it? (i gotta fix that T!)

The air is ok, but keep water and dust out of it!

Some time ago I know those vent mechanisms were availible for a few bucks from the dealer for the 8 3/4", not sure if its the same for the 7 1/4" but worth a shot calling your dealer. Sorry, don't have parts manaual handy at the moment or else I'd get you the #.

the little check valve is available for newer cars. they usually go in the end of a hose though. Screw in a hose barb and put a hose on with a check valve on the end. usually tied off to crossmember.

This style is a must on anything that goes offroad.
