Two years ago this month, I set out to obtain a hyper engine for my '62 Valiant Signet. It's a 225 with 904 pushbutton. Everything has worked except the quest for a true 10" 3,500 stall converter. After three tries, I've got a stock converter core with 10" internals, which only allows me 1,950 rpm brake stall, and a poor 60 ft time. But everything else is working as planned, so I've G-teched it @ a best e.t. of 16.12 and 90.5mph, in just two days of trying. I'm sure it'll go into the 15's with a little practice. But if I can find the right converter, I'm sure of mid to low 15's and a few mph's. It has the offy 4bl manifold, Dual Dutra Duals with 2.25 inch pipes front to rear, roller rockers, head shaved and 3 angle valve job with oversized valves, 268/272 degree cam, keyed to low end, decked block with .020 overbore. It's making about 250 h.p. max and is getting as good or better mileage than the 1 bl stock engine did(if I drive it like gramps).
Above 20 mph it will stay with small block v8's, or pull away from them. It is Very strong in second and drive. I have no idea what the top speed is, but I'm sure it'll do at least 140 if I'm fool enough to go that fast in this small, light, non-aero car.
I've contacted several other converter manufacturers, but have yet to hear from them. My car uses the small pilot nose and 18 spline front pump, so that makes it harder to find a 10" high stall converter. I know I could take the trans. apart and change the front pump and some other parts, but I would rather just get the 18 spline converter. Thanks to Duster Idiot, Doug Dutra and all you others who have helped me along the way. This site is the best I know of for help. I am eternally grateful to you all. :!:

Where did you get the roller rockers. I have been gone for awhile, and last I recall, they were being talked about but not used much. Are you happy with them? Are they any source of trouble? I can remember Dennis, (maybe) tryin roller rockers for awhile, and then taking them out. Anybody know what the story is on them these days? Thanks. Sam

I got them from Cox Brothers. You can find their address on the internet or on this site. They have a metal fabrication or air conditioning business, or something like that, but their sideline is stocking racing parts for the slant sixes. They have a wealth of knowledge and are eager to inform you. I've not had any problems with my car, but I only have 5-600 miles on it since the new engine. But Vanderley's engines don't usually fail. He wouldn't have used the roller rockers if they hadn't been made well enough for one of his engines. Last year he built some NASCAR truck engines, so he knows how to make them last. Go for it! The roller rockers are reputedly are worth 3/10th of a second in the quarter.
I'll try to get some pictures of the engine compartment and exterior of my Valiant when I get some breathing time from the courtroom. Thanks for your replies.

On my motor they are worth nothing. :shock:

Yes, I had trouble with the first set I had on the street. They did not oil well and killed a set of pushrods and adjusters in about 500 miles.

I have tried a set on my new motor and they were worth niothing, but I have tons more cam than you have to start with :shock:

Are they a stock 1.5:1 ratio? If they are 1.6, I might see some point in going to them. Get a little more lift without effecting the ovelap, or duration, which is important with a forced induction engine.

Mine are 1.6.

Those claiming that they are worth .3 had either stock or close to stock camshafts. :shock:
