I have a sixties model slant that came out of a '70 Demon. I was told it's a 225, but I want to know for sure. What casting #'s or whatever will show me what I have?

Thanks,
Mark

I had the same question on my 65 Barracuda now confirmed 225. I was told a simple way to tell if the engine is a 225 look at the small hose's at the top of the water pump that attach to the head if there 1 inch long its a 170 and if there 1.5 or longer its a 225. Hope this answers your question.

Helps! :-) I hoping for a 198 so I can use the rods to build a stroker 225. I know it's an oldie' because of the spark plug tubes.

The shorter bypass hose or the block's casting number will not tell you if it is a 198 or a 225.
It's best to look at the stamped-in ID number on the top of the block, behind the alternator bracket and under the #1 spark plug. The number will start-off "225" or "198" depending on what it is.

Dr. Dodge to the rescue! It's a 225. How hard is it to find a good set of 198 rods, or a good 198 period?

My Engine hopefully is a 225 since the number that is supose to be stamped is gone due to some block re work in the past I guess...
I just went by the simple rule and hopefully its right for me. Since I just replaced bent push rods on the little beast... But it runs so smooth now...
