This is the slant 6 site so you know the what the answers will be. How many V8's can you look at at a car show? Think of how many have already lost their origional slant and how much more rare the slant Challenger becomes each year. That jackscrew Boyd Coddington has probably converted 3 or 4 in the past 5 years. You may have the only remaining original slant 6 70 Challenger left after this craze is over.

I've had a 70 coronet with a S6, 3 on the tree. Last year we built up the 75 Dart - S6. We sold that off on ebay. The guy how bought it is thrilled! I had it posted on this list before I ebay'ed it. We've been through a slant 6. We are also in the process of smallblocking a 64 Valiant (I stil have the original S6 / trans under a bench).

Here is the kicker. I pay out of pocket for all the cars and parts. I sell the car at the end. We've built a BB 72 Scamp, SB 71 Coronet, 75 S6 Dart, plus a 60 Pontiac. The chally and Valiant are on the 06-07 plate.
So Far, I'm ~ $2 K out of pocket. The problem is that the cars are great...but not desireable, which hurts resale potential.

At the end of the day....with the same money into a S6 or BB...the BB will bring more money when sold. Right or wrong...that 's just the way it will go.

I will forever keep the S6/trans and associated stuff with the matching car.....so it can be swapped back if need be.

Throw $15K at a BB car...or a S6 car....that is the question....

Well, you know my vote. $15k goes a loooong way in a slant six. But unless the car is already in decent shape that 15k will get spent quickly on body panels and interior pieces just because it is an e-body.

I have to agree that there was really only one answer you were going to get on a slant site. I would say that your plan to swap in the BB stuff and keep the slant stuff with the car is a perfectly fine idea. If it can be swapped back in, then no harm, no foul. If your students have already done slants and SBs, a BB swap into a \6 car would be a good learning experience due to the amount of work that it will require.
