Yeah, I see your point about the die grinder.

The flange is one of those universal deals you can buy at AutoZone. The flange is loose, so I want to weld it on to the pipe like the stock flange. Then I'll just buzz off the flared part (where a doughnut would normally go) so it'll butt up to the manifold flush, like the old stock one. Seems like it'll be just like the old on, except 2 1/4" around. Then all I have to do is find a gasket. Someone already suggested one from an 80s Econoline with a 302/351.

Whatta ya think?

Well I guess its back to the exhaust shop next week or as soon as I get my distributor fixed. I will see if I can get him to weld on a new flange.

OK, let me try again...one more time:

Until you fix the warped flange, this junction WILL NOT SEAL. You are wasting time and effort by shopping for magical gaskets and gookums that will seal a warped flange. There is no such a thing. Once you have a flat flange, that copper gasket looks dandy. Until you have a flat flange, you are pissing into the wind.

Please don't ask "What about this gasket/gunk/sealer/sticky stuff/other half-baked measure, will this make it seal?" again. You know the answer. Now quit futzing around and go fix it right!

Oh Dan, You're just so darn CUTE when you're mad!!!

(Or even righteously flabbergasted!) I loved it when the first post past "Now quit futzing around and go fix it right!" was "But, couldn't you....???"
