What is the likely 3 rd gear ratio? Is it 1:1? (My car) If unknown what information is needed to know?
Whats the max RPM I should turn a somewhat daily drivers engine? I don't want to kill it over the long haul, but I don't mind some RPMs. I know MPG will go down the higher the RPMs. I travel the highways at about 70 a good portion of the time.

With a non overdrive application the final drive is 1.1.

I would go with 3.21 gears if you do any highway driving and do not have an overdrive. 3.55's or lower would be just too dang noisy and it will be a gas hog also. With that long stroke a 225 doesn't like crusing at over 3000 RPM for long periods of time.
