I need the two end exhaust manifold washers for a
'72 Demon 225 slant six. Were they round cupped
washers like the center one, or something
different? Where could I get them? Thanks.

The end washers are the round cupped style. As far as where would you get some?.. well,an advid bone yarder like myself would have about half a coffee can full. How many would you like?

There are a few different types of washers used on the SL6 manifolds. The top end ones should be a special brass washer with a flat on the manifold side and a ID 45º chamfer on the other side. A special slotted locknut is used with it.
This is designed to allow the exhaust manifold to slide as it heats and cools. The iron cupped washer is used on the top middle and the two lower middle studs, most of the time I find the "butterfly" washer in the lower middle locations.

Here is a PIC showing the brass end washers, special nuts and all the other hardware. Most SL6 "diehards" have a can full.

Thanks for the info, DD - the picture was very helpful!! I just put my manifold back on yesterday and did it wrong. I put the triangular washers on the lower middle two studs. I've got all the right hardware except the brass washers and locking nuts for the ends. Do you know of an independent source for these? The dealers here in San Diego don't stock them.

I would not worry about using the triangular washers on the middle lower positions, just check to be sure they are not "butted-up" against the edges of the notches. Here again, this manifold needs room to "float" as it heats and cools, every washer needs clearance around it.

I have always scored the brass end washers from the junk yards but I would think they are available somewhere, may-be in the Dorman line.
If there are a number of people who need them, I could machine-up some. (an easy machinning job)

Thanks for the great info. I also need the two

Sorry for the misinformation Al, I thought the end washers were the steel round ones. I went out to the garage dumped the can, there is brass washers in there. Thanks for straightening me out Doc.

Since we were always stripping cars at Slant Center, I'm sure I have lots. If someone else doesn't come through, let me know and I will scrounge you the brass & nuts.
