Are all speedo cables for Darts the same? Saw this one on ebay:

As long as it is for 65- up cars, it should work. I believe 64 and older used a different speedo gear adapter.

We've got a non-working speedo. Since it's 35 years old, we thought we'd replace the cable first and if that doesn't fix it we'll replace or rebuild the speedo.

'66 (not '65) was the first year for the cable that was used clear on up through the end of Dart production (and beyond, in other cars). These cables are still available from e.g. NAPA.
