Do you think any significant advantage could be gained by turning a 4 barrel 90 degrees on the intake so as to center up and more evenly divide the incoming fuel charge in the intake plenum? I understand at WOT it would be the same but lets assume it would be on a street/strip car with a stick shift to eliminate the kickdown linkage problem it would cause.

Not all 4bbls have 4 equal size barrels (and even if they did, the jetting isn't always the same). So I think for best distribution you want the throttle shafts parallel to the engine......

I don't know it if it's better to have the secondary on the inside or outside though. I think for everyday driving having the primarys on the outside gives a more equal distribution, but if you're after power, who knows???????

There has never been any clear advantage found to mounting the carb in any direction except for road racing. In that application it has more to do with float levels than mixture distribution.

On the V-8's I had heard that but was wondering on an open plenum slant six just because of the unequal configuration of the runnners. Probably right though.

Not necessarily right, there has just never been an absolute answer. If you look at 50 Slant cars, 25 will have them pointed one way, and the rest the other.
