Does this stuff really work? Is 15 gal. of 104 octane fuel that you would buy at the track the same as 15 gal. of 92 octane treated with booster? I know there is a differance in boosters. I am talking about the "good stuff". (about $8 a bottle)
If one bottle boosts, does 2 bottles boost twice as much. 92 one bottle added 104 2nd bottle now 116 octane?

Octane boost is a "cure" (mebbe) for a problem....if you dont have the problem you dont need the cure.

Keep in mind that 87 octane regular has more energy in it than 92 octane premium. The 92 is better at controlling detonation.

I run 87 in everything except our 10.5 CR mudbogger.

I run 87 in my 9:1 CR efi Vortec work truck that pulls a 24ft trailer....and get better mileage than if I run 89 .

My GFs turbo Talon gets better mileage on 87 than 89. ( in hot weather or in the mountains she runs premium to avoid detonation under high boost)

My Valaint is 9.25 CR and runs fine on 87 ( cam overlap helps as well as gears and 5 speed) as long as you dont "lug" it.

Ideally you want to run the lowest octane you can without detonation....so....I keep CR at about 9 - 9.5 , keep close control on spark and A/F ratio and run 87. EFI is a great way to keep that control.

In some midwestern states you can get 89 cheaper than 87....with good reason....the 89 " blended" fuel has far less calorific content than 87.

Octane boost is for when you already made a big mistake,,,,or you are ready to believe in myths.

Are you saying you agree or disagree with the 2 bottles is higher octane than 1 bottle?

I think he's saying its a waste of money. Unless you have a 10:1+ compression ratio, don't bother.

For what it is worth, I am running 9.8:1 compression and 87 octane fuel.

Octane booster is snake oil. It does nothing except lighten your wallet.

My 11-1 Slant will actually slow down on motor if I use above 93 octane.

One thing I know for sure is that my Supercharged Nissan (11psi) needs 93 octane. If I run 87 the knock sensor pulls the boost back to 3 psi and ofcourse it turns into a dog. For me higher octane is more power because more boost and more timing advance equals more power. I do go faster with octane booster. Almost 2 sec. faster. So I wouldn't call it "snake oil" because it does have its place. I was just wondering if more octane booster does equal a higher octane. Cooler charge temp would likely let me run 87 octane, but an intercooler is not an option on the roots style setup.

Yes, it can raise the octane of lower-octane fuel.
No, it may not do anything useful for your car.
EDIT: You posted while I was working on a reply! If your car requires a higher octane to run properly, then this might help. It will only help, though, if you run just high enough octane to avoid the knock. Higher octane than is necessary does not give more power. It will at some point actually cost you power.

No.

Two bottle isn't going to provide a little more octane boost? I realize it not likely that 2 bottles are twice as good. What I am trying to understand is how this stuff works.

It works by slowing the rate at which your fuel burns.....thereby preventing it from exploding. If you add enough I suppose you could make fuel so it would not burn at all. May I suggest using the instructions on the package?

When you post questions here I assume you are asking slant questions....not forking Nissan questions. I am not interested in what your Nissan does or needs....try to keep it slant related or risk being ignored.

You can be sure if I post a question I have a slant in mind :!: :!: I use some of my lifes expriences to try to illustrate what I've seen. Yes I own a Nissan also. It is also an internal combustion engine like the slant. If I mention the Nissan it is to help you undetrstand me. This all started when I posted a question and it got the standard cut and paste answer. In this case it was "you don't want to do that". In the future if you could read the question carefully and at least answer the initial question which was basicly "If you continue to add octane booster does octane continue to rise". This question has finally been answered. "yes". I enjoy all the extras that are added but if we could just answer the question that would be great.
P.S. you can ignore me if you like. The internets a big place. My donations can go elsewhere.

Adding more octane booster will give higher octane, but it's not 1:1. Think of it as a filler, not a booster.

*sigh*....(.if only I would read the question properly and give him the answer he wants,,,,NOT CUT AND PASTE ANSWERS...)

YES....USE 3 BOTTLES AND GET 146 OCTANE.

Now , I will take your advice and ignore you.

Now....for those who like an attempt at useful answers.....

Octane boost adds no octane...it increases the octane rating....or resistance to knock by slowing the rate of burn. Airplane fuel has very high octane rating yet it is not used in auto racing for the simple reason that it doesn t make as much power as regular fuel. Octane boost will add no power to your engine....none.

Adding octane boost is an extremely bad thing for health and environment. The stuff is literally poison.

Building an engine with a view to using octane boost is dumbthink.
