Give us the numbers stamped on the deck of the block upder the #1 spark plug and we can tell you what flavor of slant 6 you have.

In which car is that Slant placed?

Whats your doubt? if the engine has ever been changed?

I think its a 145 HP 225 Slant, (because of the colour...)

That's not the original engine for a '63 unless someone has painted it and changed the Valve Cover and PCV Valve. The numbers stamped into the pad on the block just just below the #1 spark plug, as someone already noted, will give more info.

What're you seeing in the picture that makes you say so? The valve cover, oil cap/breather, and PCV valve are all correct 1963 types. The blue paint isn't correct for '63 (originally red), but the engine could've been repainted.

Yep, and also the numbers cast into the manifold side of the block, below the (three or five, which is it on this engine?) freeze plugs.

I just took another look and you're correct. I first thought I saw a plastic PCV valve stuck into a rubber grommet but I see the metal cap now.

Show us a picture of the water pump area with the short bypass hose between it and the head and we'll tell you if it's a 170 or 225...........

Wow everyone, thanks for all the advice and instructions, I've been stuck dealing with real life and we all know what a pain that can be haha. Anyways I got the Serial Number on the block and it is 2202857-4 so I checked out this site http://www.imperialclub.org/~imperialcl ... cation.htm

and it said that it was a 225, I'm pretty sure it is anyways  if anyone can help confirm this then I would be grateful.

:Edit: Oh by the way I found that number on the drivers side of the block...
