The spark plug debate has been covered many times here, I am not tryiong to start another one of those,

I just want to know If any one rusn the 75-up peanut plug head with a high compression motor - say 9.5 or higher.

I was wondering what plug selecton is out there for this application. or what you folks run in this application.

I run a high Coompression head on the dart, but I have the old style head with the big plug tubes - Seemes to be plenty of selection there because of the big and small blocks out there.

I run one at 9.5:1, using whatever the NGK book reccomended as stock. I'm fairly certain I have a couple valves in the process of burning off, but I don't believe it had anything to do with the plugs. Wish I had some more definitive information for ya.

I'm running only 9.2:1 but...

I used to run NGK's that were UR-5's I think as they were "stock" in the book...Hotter would be UR-4 like the small block chevy uses...

I noticed that an extended plug the TR-4 is available but not sure how that might help things.

I'm currently running a set of AC-Delco RTS-45's as they seem to burn just right for the timing and intake/carb selection I've made (with winter coming on I may go up to a RTS-44)

good luck buddy!

11-1 and I use Autolites between 24-26 depending on whether I'm spraying or not.

I also use NGKs spraying, but I don't really like them and am going to toss them in the trash.

your using 11 to 1 on your juice motor? do you retard the timing once the juice kicks on?

Maybe my setup just runs hot due to the stock exhaust(which I am going to upgrade)

But I had to dial all the way down to autolite 23's Because I just could not find a plug that was cold enough for my combo.

as I said, the stock exhaust is holding a lot of heat in the motor, and there Might Be the problem. I just bought a MP 6:1 Header and will run 3" all the way back - Current exhaust is stock, except for a 2" flowmaster 40 Delta Force.

Greg,

What total timing are you running? It may be better to run less advance and keep normal heat range plugs. On your combo, I don't think I would run anything over 28 deg total (mech) advance.

Greg- your car is reeeeally going to wake up with that header!

you may only want 2 1/2" on the tail pipe, if you are getting a tight fit around the axle and gas tank, 3" into the muffler is good but not totally necessary

Greg, I am interested in seeing how much difference you get over the Clifford header. I ran an MP in my Duster and always liked it. I have a Clifford in the red car and have always thought it was lackluster at best.

Well, First this setup is going into My daily Driver, a 79 Volare Duster, Not the dart Pictured in the sig. Line, so it will be hard to campare the MP Header in the Volare to The Clifford long tubes in the dart.

I will let you know how it all works out.

Lou, I will have to check the timing - I did Dial it Back a bit and I am using a medium spring instead of the Super Light One.

I set it few months a go, but I cannot remember as to what setting I set it to.
