Hello everyone, In my process of getting my Dart to run, cause' yes it won't start anymore after a few months stop and an electronic distributor installed (and quickly uninstalled...), it just won't start...
So to test all that without getting all the crude of my old tank (well also because my fuel pump is dead), I managed to fuel my carb with a small jar put above the carb level...
Is that ok? I'm just troubleshooting anything that could make my engine angry to the point of not starting... My ignition wires are a bit old too but I guess it would at least cough or run rough...
Thanks for your help

Marc

The only thing I might mention as a caution is this...
When we fired my son's slant for the first time following a rebuild, the timing
was off considerably, causing it to backfire with flames shooting about two
feet above the carb. I don't think you want a cup/can of gasoline in the potential path of a flame thrower.

Fuel pumps aren't that costly, and you could still run a line from a can (sitting on the ground out of harm's way). We did it until the car got painted, so we could install the gas tank underneath.

A fuel pump failure once stranded me with my Aspen. Went back later and hooked up with fuel line direct to the carb an inverted gear oil bottle filled with gasoline. Drove without incident the mile or so back home for the repair.
