I won this 2bbl air cleaner on E-Bay for $5...!

Image

it was pretty rusty, but not too pitted-
I hit it with a few wire brush drill attachments,
gave it a couple of coats of Dupli-Color Semi-gloss Black
500 deg. Engine paint, and added a few decals...

Image

with the weather in the single digits, I've been limited to indoor
bench work! ;)

Thanks, and good luck with your mods-
I've been picking up all the parts I'll need a lil' bit
at a time:

Image

I also, picked up a '71 Factory Shop Manual on CD for $30,
and have been selectively printing the /6 specific pages and
compiling into a binder...

The last missing link that I'm still putting together is the front disc
brake setup- and waiting on the spring thaw!

After much debate over which route to go-
(SSB, Wilwood, boneyard scavenging etc.)
I finally went with the Scarebird adaptor kit...
these allow you to keep the SBP, original UCA's etc...
(However, they do use Chevy rotors / calipers etc. which I know
is pure blasphemy for some!)
I'm very happy with them, they make an incredible difference

Image

I also found a nice set of 14" SBP Rallye rims up near Hatford, CT
(a mere 260 ml. roundtrip for me)

Image

This project started out 11 mos. ago as a B'day Gift for my daughter,
with a promise to be finished for her 17th this August...

It's gonna be tuff handing this beauty over, I've grown quite attached to her!

thanks again to all the members of this site who have shared a wealth of info... The search feature / archives on this site, coupled with my trusty FSM
(thanks SSD) have made this resto a real pleasure...

That's a sweet car and an awesome present for a 17 year old girl. You've done a nce job with it.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.
