Hi iv been searching the forum all morning and i cant seem to find exactly what i'm looking for, first i have a stock 74 dart 225 and i have the dual ballast what do i do with the 4 wires off the ballast. In the HEI mod post from Dan it states "take the two connectors that used to connect to the resistor, and connect them to each other instead" well i'm just asking to clarify (so i don't fri something in my car) do i connect the two wires in the same connector together or the two wires on the same side together? Also will this mod work on the 74 distributor. And again sorry if this is just another stupid question.

The ballast resistor is totally eliminated when you do the HEI upgrade.

Your 4-prong ballast resistor has-

At one end

Dark blue wire connected to a terminal, AND that wire jumpered
over to the other terminal on that same end

At the other end

Two brown wires (We'll call "Brown A", "Brown B") coming off one terminal

One dark green with red tracer coming off the other terminal

=====
What you want to do is connect the dark blue to the dual-brown. You can pull the jumper and the green/red off the ballast resistor and remove the resistor entirely, or you can just leave 'em in place, it doesn't matter; they won't be used in the new setup.

Yep, the HEI will work with a '74 distributor.

Glad to help...I'd rather hang out on here answering questions than face customers at this time of year. Granted, they keep food in my fridge, but I can only take so many emergency phone calls from people who "forgot" that Christmas is 25/12 and they want parts not in stock shipped to arrive by, um, yesterday. :roll:
