I keep reading that the last rocker shaft bolt and it's hole a different than the rest but on my engine, there isn't a stepped bolt, there is one bolts that is shouldered, and longer, I assume it is the rear. also the holes are all the same size. the oil holes point towards the valve spring right. But the rockers slide in front of the holes. Any differences in the half moon "washers" or can they go anywhere?

the older heads had the long 3/8 bolt and the newer heads had the 5/16 tappered bolt in the rear hole as for washers there are 2 that are wider than the others

I have found the Tapered bolt in the late 1978 and 1979 heads, and my two '76 heads had the regular 3/8" bolt( as well as my drool tube heads)...Maybe Dan knows the machining cutoff date for this oddity...
