I had the windows tinted wednesday and yesterday noticed that the headliner where it flanks the rear deck glass looks like it has blochy bleached. At first I thought it was soap residew. Cratched it with my fingernail and the white started to go back a little to the black. (liner is black) Got a wet sponge to "wash" away the soap and it didn't go away. Took it back to tinter and they said it wasn't anything they did because they use water and a few drops of baby shampoo in the spray bottles. He had told me about the bottles contents during the tinting and his story is the same then as it is now. What do you think happened? This headliner is orignal and is perfect except for one spot where the stiching is coming loose (about 1") and now the bleached looking spots. He said I should gently tape off the area and spray it back to black with some fabic paint or something like that.
Any ideas to the cause and how to fix it?
The tint looks great by the way. Don't worry Dan it legal- as its mostly night driven.

I can tell you that in our shop the tinter uses only water; certainly no bleach. I don't know what happened with your headliner but it's unlikely that it's the result of the tinter's work unless he's doing something out of the ordinary.

Notice the rubber window seal is white in spots too.

If you wet it, what happens?

I'm thinking soap residue. If it tends to disappear when wet I'd say that's the problem. If thats the case, I'd wet it, blot it with a towel, wet it..............

I don't know what that is but I doubt that the tinter left it there. It doesn't look like soap residue to me unless they were using powder detergent which is very unlikely. At most they'd be using a very diluted solution of liquid soap. I don't believe my tinter uses anything other than clear water.
