im plannin on gettin a 64-66 barracuda and building the SL6 with fuel injection and turbocharged(probably twin turbos off of a 300zx or 3000gt to start with probably). right now im in the planning stages before i dive in. might even buy a SL6 and build it partially before i get the car. not completely sure on the fueling and spark seup yet, but probably megasquirt. im used to N/A late model v8s, so my intake theory might be flawed for slant 6 or turbo use.

i have a few main ideas for the intake.
first is a log style like many of the inline imports run. if figure if it works for a turbo supra makin sick power, it should work for a slant 6 makin good power. i will probably go with this design. should be the simpliest to construct. i can also use either a ford or GM throttle body that already has TPS and can be had for cheap. possibly start with something like this for a weber setup.

and make a shared plentum like this one for a Supra(straight 6)

2nd idea is to take 6->3->1 using something like this

and then a 3 into 1 merge(might be beyond my skill) and turn and put a throttle body on it. should provide good air distribution and might be fun to fab my own intake with a full custom design. might be a bit excessivly complicated and not worth the effort


last idea is to just stick with one of the availabe intakes out there like the hyperpack intake. doesn't require any real intake fabricaton besides injector bungs. issues are the cost of a 4 barrel throttle body compared to a GM or ford stocker, and that i kinda want to do some custom setup.


what are yalls opinions on each intake possiblilty? pros? cons? what would u go with?`

The straight shot into a common plenum is the one I'd recommend. Either that or independant throttle bodies. (Kind of tricky to plumb on a turbo car, but possible.) I've grabbed an early '80s BMW plenum out of a junkyard and have been toying with the idea of making some runners to put it on my Dart. I'm running a modified Clifford intake myself as I was trying to save a bit of money but had to pay someone else to do all the welding.

Seems to me to be much more practical to start with a weber-type manifold and build a log to mount to it. In this way, those who already have a weber manifold can "graduate" to EFI with the addition of the log, and it's pretty much a bolt-on deal. One would have to modify thier weber manifold for the injectors.

Additionally, should you build both the log and the runner manifolds, the runner manifold could be purchased, but used for triple webers by plugging the injector bosses.

Dual-use technology....ain't it great?

I used Clifford Weber-manifold and made plenum from 4" stainless tube. It is still under construction, but I probably use a Mercedes trottle body.

thats somewhat im thinkin with the first idea. probably have the plentum bolt directly to the weber intake for space consideration. until i actually begin construction, i won't be able to really decide on design of plentum much. might be log, might be boxed, dunno.

im guessing that i want the injectors as close to the engine as possible. what sort of angle should the injectors be? as much as possible, or something like 45*? also, can RTV stand up to 15 pounds of boost? im goin to start with probably 5 and work my way up to 15 eventually. i gotta come up with something to seal the weber intake to the plentum. would like to be able to bolt and unbolt at will. might see if i can get a piece of graphite(think thats what some gaskets are made out of?) and custom make my own.

I've read that ideally injectors should point to the back of the intake valve. If you can get them in that general direction you should be ok.

You can buy gasket material by the sheet from places like napa. I remember Dan posting about a specific type. I know mr. gasket makes a heavy duty thick white gasket material. Cutting it is going to be a pita though if you plan on repeated removal/installs.

I'm going to have to watch this develop. I was about to post asking for information about injection. I know Mr. Goodman used Hilborn's; which I understand are made of unobtainium. I already have a Clifford Weber intake as well and was looking for advice on what to use for mixers. My /6 is going in a rear engine car made for engine, so room is not a big concern.

if you're going all out on this, you could have the plenum machined for o-rings. reusable and easily replaced. NAPA sells pretty much any size you need.
