I checked both those web sites, and thanks for both. It looks like the modern retrofit tanks are not available for our A body cars. The one with a sump looks like it will improve things, but the fuel pump would still be external. I will come back to these web sites after I get things going, if it looks like fuel starvation is part of any further problems I experience.

I have re-routed the fuel line, and am re-doing the entire intake tube from inter cooler to TB. I am getting the blowoff valve up on a flange welded to the upper 2.5 inch tube intake tube, , thus eliminating the restirction, and cramped quarters the BOV previously presented. It was previously in a smaller plastic tube that went in line, which meant the tube size had to be brought down at the blowoff valve. I am enlarging the inlet and outlet on the inter cooler from 1 7/8" to 2.5 , like the rest of the system. Some of this requires aluminum welding, which I must farm out. As I understand it, these restrictions do more than just restrict the flow, but cause heat, which is what we are trying to eliminate with the inter cooler. I will also go with a cooler plug as was suggested elsewhere buy Anothersix.

I am hoping the intake work, and cooler plugs will solve the detonation problems, and that the change in the fuel line will solve the fuel delivery problems. Of course there is the "minor" thing of now knowing for sure what injector size I have. I enter the new season with re-newed hope.

I've got such a tank on order from Rick's Hot Rods for my 1963 Dodge Dart GT convertible. It should arrive in about three weeks.

It's manufactured in response to an order; they don't have units in stock.

They asked a number of questions, including:

1. What fuel guage would be used?
2. What brand fuel pump?

That sounds like a cool car. I kind of wish I had a convertible, and the older DArts or Valiants are my first choice. Keep me posted on how the tank order goes. This is one with an internal pump? How much did it cost?

if u run the GM fuel pump setup, be sure to put a fuel pressure shutoff. I come from the f-body world and the GM pumps will burn out quick if they run dry. u could put a FPSS right by the output of the pump to shutoff power to the pump fairly easily tho. also, if u run the GM setup, there are 2 types. one is a returnless setup used on the newer stuff(think 98+), but some of the older ones are return style(97 vette for sure). i don't think its part of the actual fuel pump setup, but its right in that area. idk what would work for yall, but thats something to look into

It has an internal pump. I don't know what brand the standard pump is, but he said it's the same one found on most domestic tanks. For $50 more (or was it $100) I upgraded to what he said was a substantially better pump.

"How much did it cost? "

It's about $1200.00. (gulp!) (Hey, but it's stainless steel!)

From what I've read, the intank pumps last longer, are more durable, are quieter, and it means clean, uninterrupted lines from the tank to the manifold.
