I know this is the slant six website, but i am thinking of going with a v8 swap i mean thats the reason why i wanted a muscle car anyway. Besides on 1/2 price day at pick a part i can get an engine and trans for $300. I just wanted to know if anyone could give me a total list of what i'm gonna need? Anything else besides the engine, trans ,radiator and shroud, motermount swap for k member, kickdown set, alreadt has disk brakes in front and 10 inch in the rear , torsion bars, wiring harness, tranny cross member, driveshaft, drop center steering link am i missing anything?P.s. i have a 74 duster with a 225 in it.

If you must, shoot for something like the Green Brick

How about clifford head, intake, headers, cam, fuel injection, supercharger from the supercharger store on a nice rebuilt balanced blueprinted engine bored to what ever and then all the fiberglass pieces you can find, fenders, hood, trunk, bumpers, doors (not recomended for street use), and a kick ass trans either 5speed or 4speed auto and a nice rear end setup?
WHEEW.
Hows that for a setup, should be fairly quick and definatly unique.
It's not that I don't have any slant six ideas, I just think in the long run the v8 swap will be cheaper.

All that stuff you rhymed off to drop in the 360 already sounds like a lot of money. I don't know how much gas costs out where you live or how much driving you do, but the running cost of a 360 is likely to be a lot more than a 225.

How fast do you really want to go and how often do you expect to need all that extra power?

Fine, It is your car your money. Go for it. Just don't expect to get much help here. As you said "this is a slant six site". You will get more help at the links listed.

PS: I pulled a 360 out of my Cuda and installed a 170 slant. It is now quicker, and gets more attention.

Is the throttle linkage/cable/etc the same on your car as those the intended donors have?

Is the existing rear up to the task? A different type of rear end would mean a different length driveshaft.

Make sure your tires and brakes are in good shape. Shocks, too.

Theres nothing wrong with pulling a slant for a V8, if thats what he wants. You can make more power for less money with the 360.
However should you choose to go that way, you find little help here.

ok, ok, ok. I have some things to think about here. I do like the simplicity of the slant and all the engine bay room. I dont know , i'll get back to ya.

I do like slants that's why I still have one in my valiant ...
however I am looking for a duster to put a 360 in it

The guy who painted my car has a 360 powered duster
runs mid 12's on motor and 10.01 is the best time with 2 stage nitrous

a friend of mine who I bought a slant from ran best 15's
swapped a 360 in and he running high 12's on motor....

slant's can go fast but I think a v8 can do it easier......

Yep, if your only goal is to go as fast as possible then yes, a V8 is the way to go, but where does it stop? A 360? 440" 426 Hemi, or perhaps one of the dozens of bored and stroked versions of any of the above? Anyone can stuff a big V8 or even a V10 into a chassis and make it go but where's the challenge? Oh well... different strokes for different folks I suppose.
