anyone know how to remove the heater box out of a 68 polara.i need to change the heater core but cant figure it out.i took off every screw that holds the box cover but i cant get it out,i can see it.there is a bolt/nut on the fire wall where the ignition box is mounted,do i have to take that off,or are there more?

Hi there. That's the really big dual-core heater core assembly in your '68, if I'm not mistaken. These are once again available new, but yeah, you're going to have to get it all apart first! Best advice I can give you is to get and use the FSM, see this thread.

Two questions. Is this an A/C car? Is the 68 the same as a 69? I did my 69 Polara, last year. I highly recommend removeing the complete assy from the car, and splitting the case on the bench. Otherwise you stand a good chance of cracking the brittle plastic (for lack of a better word) case. Make sure you seal the two case halfs, well, and the firewall, to prevent water leaks inside the car.
PS: my 69 Polara has A/C.
