I'm prepairing to change the rear wheel bearings on my 63 Valiant. Is this a fairly involved task. Reading the service manual it sounds like it may be. Anyone out there ever change rear wheel bearings; any tips?

The rear axle bearings are pressed onto the axle shafts and take some work to remove and re-install. Most owners will remove the axle shafts and take them to a garage or machine shop to have the new axle bearings installed.

Note, 1963 was a "transition year" for the 7 1/4 axle bearing size, the 60-62 and some early 63s have a real small axle bearing and replacements are hard to find these days, 64 thru 76 (small lug) is easy to get.
If you get the measurment of the outer axle housing tube, right at the backing plate, we can ID the bearing type.
