 Post subject: brakes are funny

I got the hayes 4piston units and the big rear drumms. Teh rears were locking up, Ithought it was proportioning issues so I got an adjustable valve. But whrn I turn down the rear pressure, the brakes are hard as rocks but it doesn't really slow down. Do you (like me!) think my master is wasted...

Thanks boys and girls!

Could be stuck pistons in the caliper, there are 4 pistons and the inboard ones are known to stick.

Is it a tandom (dual) master cylinder? Crack a line fitting to one of the fronts to see if it is moving fluid. (pressure)

fluid moves becasue it bleads great. It's a dual master. All four pistons move OK. I was thinking it was a master issue. I have extra calipers and i can easy swap them out (and I have a rebuild kit too)
