This does not make a lot of sense to me. They have a picture on their website, with what looks like a 2bbl throttle body, but tell you they don't have a small enough throttle body. what did they use for their demo unit? Did they just mock up a system, with no engineering?

If you're looking for a 4-bbl Holley style throttle body, how about this one?

"[W]hat did they use for their demo unit?"

The throttlebody shown on the web site is one of the 600 CFM Cadillac units that he rebuilt and retrofitted the IAC and TPS units.

Is this unit acceptable, or too much for my setup?

TIA

"If you're looking for a 4-bbl Holley style throttle body . . ."

That unit is rated for 750 cfm. Is that too much?

Would a unit off a Mopar 3.8 or 3.9 litre work?

Would such units include the IAC and TPS units?

TIA

This is my post from the gallery - http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5212

The throttle body on the first page appears to be the same one as the one on his website minus the injectors/regulator. It comes with TPS and IAC already on it, not sure what he means about requiring adapters - maybe to change position to clear the rail?. The connectors you can buy new for a few bucks. Only adapter you would need is to mate it to the manifold.

The adapter in the pictures is a howell gm > 4bbl holley pattern adapter, drilled out for the manifold. Makes for easy fit with the lokar cables.

I had the 500CFM version on my engine. I don't think a 600CFM version will be a problem - with EFI you can get away with a bit more CFM then usual. Push comes to shove you can always block a hole off all together  IMO better to go bigger to allow room for growth, instead of spending $$ and limiting yourself. These have good aftermarket support - heck you can buy them new for $400.

Using this makes air cleaner selection easy. Any standard 4bbl that clears the fuel rail will work. 1" tall ones cleared the hood on my 71 duster. If you choose another throttle body or point it a different direction you will have to get creative with the intake plumbing (look at last page of post).

EFI doesn't have the same issues with a too-big throttle body that carbs do. However, a 1200 cfm one probably would be too big, likely to act like an on-off switch. A 600 to 750 cfm one would be likely to work.

Just about every throttle body will have a TPS on it. Not all throttle bodies have a IAC on them, but the typical Mopar 3.8 or 3.9 will have a stepper motor type IAC mounted to the throttle body. (At least for the years I looked up.) However, it looks like either one will need an adapter.

I've posted this forum link to Rance, and noted your concerns.

Will let you know his response.

Thanks for your help.
