That's a stock '71-'80 camshaft, which is the only one sold through normal parts channels for service replacement on all '60-'80 slant-6s.

Yea Dan, I've been diggin through the archives on cams and still don't know which way to go here. Believe me, I have dug deep in them! I'm thinking on going with a custom grind from Comp. [I know your feelings on that!] but the advertized 256* at a .467" lift, 218@.050 lobe looks like it would help the slant breath better and keeping duration short for better torque. What's your thoughts? Thanks

Well, how 'bout a nice custom cam at a friendly price from Erson?

OK Dan, I need some input here!
Username is what I have. Don't know what Im doing yet, but the plan is this.
Bore if needed to whatever?
Max ported head that Im looking to shave 50-60 thou off for compression.
Stock size valves
Super 6 with a Weber 32/36
Stock manifold with 2.25" turbo muffler
Torqueflight with stock stall
8-3/4" rear with 3.55 gears
This is mostly a parts hauler, spare ride for me. Nothing fancy, just want more guts.
How would the Erson 270 behave in this? Thanks

I haven't used the Erson 270, so I'm not the guy to ask, but if you read through that whole thread I linked, there's a great deal of discussion about how the various Erson cams operate, amongst others, and you can see posts from people who've bought the 270. If they haven't posted their experience, you can certainly ask them...

Doc and Erson got thier collective heads together and came up with a couple of dual profile cams that might work well for you. If my 270 doesn't work out as well as I'd like I might go that route later.
