Looking at the pics of the piston, it looks like it is a fresh build, judging by the hone marks in the next cylinder. This looks like it was a serious build. The headers, are definatly not for a boat.

Reviving this old thread with new information: I just bought Chrysler Marine engine parts catalogues for the 225 marine engines made between '66 and '76, and can now say the water pump cover-and-spout is definitely a marine item, p/n 3527 494. The oil pan looks like a custom-welded job, but interestingly, it is shaped almost exactly like the marine unit.

Interesting. I've been doing some more digging and haven't found any more info on the block number. I'm going to tear into the low end soon and look for a number on the crank.

Thanks for all the info.

Dave

The motor in this picture has what looks like a a water out let coming from the front of the place on the motor where the fan usually is.

I have a marine six. It has just a plain casing on the front. Is there some kind of water circulating pump in there?....I ask because mine might be making a "bad bearing" noise. Or some other bearing is going....but which one? Front main?

Further digging in my library reveals: 1960-model LG (170 cubic inch) engine block.
