For the last three weeks I've been driving my Duster, I just noticed a few nights ago that my brake lights weren't working. I did a little troubleshooting today and when I looked at the wiring diagram, noticed that the power for the brake lights runs through the turn signal switch (makes sense given that they use the same filament), which I currently do not have installed.

So to those of you who pull the turn signal switch for whatever reason and drive your car without it, remember, you won't have brake lights either!

I'm lucky I haven't gotten a ticket

Surprisingly yes. Too bad no one else on the road knows what they mean

There's only one hand signal that everyone understands.

Growing older is unavoidable but growing up is strictly optional.

I cant imagine anybody driving around with turn signals not working!
If you did that here a ticket would be certain, and a bent car would be probable.

'round here, and very much so to the south of us (as in, Massachusetts), blinkers are very much optional, if not ignored outright. Coworker who spent some time in Houstin Texas (or near there) said that nobody would use a blinker, as it would give away your next move.

A friend of mine learned to drive in L.A., and her driving instructor told her specifically never to use a turn signal for the reason given by Supton.
