does anyone out there in slant six land know what the deck height on a stock 225 should be? i'm looking around at a bunch of different pistons.

Stock SL6 block deck to crank C/L is appx 10.68, the stock piston compression height is 1.765 (some are a bit shorter, depends on the manufacturer)

thanks, doug! your worksheet was a valuable piece of info. i think i'm going to go with the 2.0l neon piston on my 198 rods and a welded crank (4.35" stroke.) should be a strong motor.

Sounds like a great combo, I really like the long rod, short piston engines.

What are the measurments on that 2.0 piston? Wrist pin, Comp. Height, Weight, Material type etc??

the piston i had in mind was the kb/silvolite 2.0l hyperutectic. specs are as follows:

comp height: 1.240"
pin diameter: .827"

ring pack: 2-1.2mm, 1-3.0mm

bore size: 3.485 (1mm over stock 87.5mm)

weight: 455 grams with pin (floating)

i know this is a really short flattop piston, but the long rods an stroked crank will make up for it and it is extremely light and uses super thin rings which should work well at high rpms. i also like the small floating pin. i can bush down the rods, keeping as much material on the small end as possible.
i'll be using my big valve head, 3 webers, .528 mp cam, 1.6 roller rockers. i have an unmachined block and a few cranks to choose from to have welded. i was thinking about using one of my small hub cranks as i have an early nos aluminum weber flywheel. would it be worth having the flywheel "opened up" for a big hub crank, or would it be fine because it is so light?

any suggestions?
