Congratulations on your achievement, and your amazing perseverance. I think I would have given up by now, if I had been in your shoes.

You mentioned traction problems. Did it happen in all your runs last night? Maybe you need to bring some slicks with next time. :D

The regulars were saying the track was pretty bad that day. I think that if the track was better I would have been able to stand on it at the line and not lose tracktion. I really would like to see a 2.00 60'
Can anyone predict my 1/4 time. using the track times?

The 9.97 pass 1/4 et, based on a 1.58 factor, is 15.75. Some people use 1.57 or 1.56 as the factor which will show a bit faster.

Generally speaking, street tires hook better on the street, race tires hook better at the track. Mostly it is because of the race rubber that gets layed down on the track helps race tires and hinders street tires. You'll hear people complain that the track isn't spraying any traction compound, that shouldn't effect you too much as track prep helps race tires more than street tires.

What was the grinding problem in the trans?

Yeah, I have given up, at least for awhile, when encountering all those problems.

Bren, here are times I ran with my car, that are not too far from yours.

60 ft.....2.134
1/8.......9.800
mph.....68.38
1/4.......15.663
mph.....81.58

I do have more converter and gear then you, plus slicks

The 60' time is greatly improved from before your new converter was installed. I believe you were running 2.6 seconds before for a 60' time? Thats the converter doing it's job.
What fuel and timing did you end up running?

What ever happened to the important part of the changes that where made? You know, being able to run on pump gas with no detination from the compression lowering. Did we accomplish this?
If I am remebering right you still had some race fuel mixed in with this last trip to the track, maybe not.

What kinda cranking compression did you end up with?

Did you do any more tuning, between all the changes including the tranny gears & convertor, it could take a fair bit of tuning to really nail down what the car wants again (in other words, more rome for improvment).

I ve taken a little break from working on the car to driving it. I plan to get the cranking psi for you ect. Total timing is still set at 25* total as before. There is a hint of ping/detonation around 4800-5800 rpm under load. Wide band is reading 13 -12.8:1. Part throttle cruise is 14-14.8:1 Running on straight 93 octane. I plan to back the down around 23* total.

about that "hint" of detonation, what vac pod are you using? did you check your govnor for binding? sometimes if there's a hair of difference between them slots you can have a little binding wich helps to erratic timing @ high rpm.

Finally got around to do a compression test today and to my surprize all cylinders are testing at 200 - 205 psi. I really was expecting around 180psi. I guess thats where my hint of detonation is coming from. :?
I installed a 160* t-stat replacing the 180* in hopes of holding off the detonation. Has no effect as far as I can tell. Also installed the NGK BPR6EGP (7084) plugs and backed the timing from 25* to 23.5* total and the pinging is gone. I should have tried the plugs without the timing adjustment, but I didn't. I also made an adjustment to the MSD Timing Computer. I moved the base timing up from 17* to 20* and left the total timing at 23.5*. It idles much better and is very responsive off the line.
I think the next set is to install some water injection that turns on around 4" vac just as the vac secondaries come in. Thats the only time I get pinging. Then move the total timing up some.
Its been awhile since I have kept you up to date on Eileen.
