I have a 225 in the garage with possibly 86K on it. I'll drop it in the Duster when pulling the 198 and stealing it's rods! And getting the bigger stainless valves in the ported head.

Oh and ya the 198 rods are up for grabs i just have to yank them outa the engine which is still peskyily bolted in my car but'll it'll be coming out soon HOPEFULLY this weekend if plans go to according.Oh and you fellas think i'll have to take my hood off for manuvering room i assume?

Yeah, hood needs to get out of the way. On the valves, there is a seller on ebay that has a nice set of Stainless oversize valves for a reasonable price, just did a search, there are at least 3 sets listed, here is a link :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/225-Slan ... dZViewItem

Are you sure you don't want to keep those 198 rods for yourself ??? They make a great build up, just check the Articles section of this site, maybe not for this engine...but for your next..........

Those valves are a great choice for price and size, I think you can get a .1 bigger but it might cost you more than you want to mess with. The bottom end should be taken apart if you can, and get the block cleaned if possible since you should need the head machined a little too. I built my sic six i'm finishing when I was a senior in high school, I pulled the bottom end plasti guage the new bearings and new rings. the head I polished the bowls with a couple parts and a die grinder. I forked out to the shop for .1 off the head, hardened seats, a 3-angle, and assembly. so good luck and use thread locker and nevercease.

I suppose i'll see this weekend whether the has to come off but either way not a big deal. My erson camshaft showed up on my dorrstep today coming home from school ahh it feels like Christmas except with my money everything should come together soon only thing i'm iffy on is degreeing the cam in i've never done or seen it done so i may have to find some help on that one. Don't get me wrong I'd love to tear the whole motor apart put new bearing in get it acid dipped re ring it and replace what ever else may be worn but it's my only car and it needs to be running in the next week or two i'm tired of bumming rides. Plus the engine I scored from the junkyard looks magnificant no ridges in the cylinders from the rings no pits. it spins it's clean and besided it'll be another excuse to rip it apart again since it's not as bad ass as i would love.Slowly but surely it'll get closer to that never reaching perfect level.I'm dropping the head off tommorow hopefully that'll be done quickly to get .1 lopped off (after i run a compression test). Picutres will be coming soon.

Thanks, Kevin

Make sure you check the cam, per this thread.

Cam is in ,dropped head to get a hair cut of .100, pulling motor tommorow and i though of a color change for the motor you'll see when it's done or in the car.Still waiting on stall converter Oh I want to buy a electric fuel pump (because they sound cool) any thoughts? pro's con's .

Checked the cam oil hole looked good to me i poked around down there a bit i'll double check see if i'm gettin oil to the rockers when everything is together.I'm missing cruising around i'm starting to get antsy being this close to completion but still tons of work to do.
Image I grabbed the camera i forgot to get a pic of the cam figured it was a good time before I slid it in there.

Thanks, Kevin

You need a switch to shut off the fuel pump when the oil pressure dies. (safety) Myself? I wouldn't bother with an electric for the street.

I guess if the noise bothers you? Turn up the tunes!

For a cheap oil pressure kill switch just use a sender for a later ('78 and up) Slant. They came with 2 circuits in them. One was a single blade for the oil light, and the other was a 2 blade for I believe killing the choke heater when the engine was shut off. Use the 2 blade side for a safety for the fuel pump relay. If you use an MSD you can hook the white wire to the single blade and use it to kill the engine when you lose oil pressure too. :D

This arrived today:) Image Oh yes now time to assemble and drop this sucker in hopefully head is back tommorow.Oh and i'm 90% done painting the engine i'm gonna keep it a secret till its in the car.Hopefully it looks good i'll scrap the electric fuel pump for idea i'm gonna try and make this with as little headaches as possible for now I need a car gah.Total investment so far on the rebuild let's see roughly 200$ cam kit ,450$ (ouch) stall converter, engine 100$, Head shaving 80$ i believe, shift kit 20 something bucks can't remeber. and gaskets so not to bad i don't think considering I already had the intak/headers/carb takin care of already and random small parts previously purchased. So hopefully this baby runs well.

Kevin

When this is up and running. Home port the other head and have it shaved.

I am just getting used to playing and watching my tach. The stock cam revs easy to 5300. I am running the valves set tight.

A friend of mine finished the porting that I started. I had two different sets of carbides. His had the longer shanks.

I polished the chambers. That was fun. It revs quick and easy.

My shaved head got back today (rug ya i'm gonna home port and tinker with my other engines head) I'm hoping for maybe a strong 5500rpm shift point.
Problem I went and borrowed a valve spring compressor to take the springs off and put my performance ones on.I'm having problems I can get them off easy enough took me a good amount of time to get one back on couldn't manage to sqaush the second. So I'm taking a break for now is it just a crap tool or is this a B of a job i've tryed even using a plank to help get more tension i managed to get one on and that took some muscle i can't see this being this hard help?
Oh and anyone know if summit still sells the force2 mufflers (mikescuda.net he has them on his cuda) i think they sound great but i didn't see them online maybe i should call?
Thanks, Kev

Just can't swap springs without measuring the hieght. You may need to shim them etc.
