I just got off the phone with T&D and they are interested in giving us(slantsix.org) a group buy for roller rockers . There is a lot of buzz on the valve height/valve train set ups and seeing I just started my head this seems like good timing. Lots of people have jumped on the erson buy so I thought we could get good valve train stuff too.

due to the lenght of the sbc valves after assy. I am sending my head to them and they will set up system for that set up(sbc valves). Hopefully they will work up something to use the stock push rods. just food for thought .

Sounds good, but I'm not too hopeful on the price. T&D usually gets quite a bit of money for their stuff. Hopefully they already have a rocker that's close and can be adapted. Otherwise I expect this to cost serious money.

Now if we could get a moderator to fix the thread subject...

I brought this up only because of the other subjects that have been kicking around. If your going to thrash me about this, then sorry I called them and asked for a group buy opportunity.

Yes they are pricey but what if the first group of buyers were enough to, say get it down around 400 to 450 and they are willing to engineer a rocker for the sbc valve combo and in that it would save some headache when things are not clear what a slanter's options are.

this is not by any means cheap but the opportunity to have a company of that standing help out the slant six owner with quality parts is only to benefit us.

maybe I should keep things to myself.....................

You can already buy roller rockers from the Cox Brothers and/or RAS. Last set I got was $425 shipped to my door. They offered 1.5 and 1.6 ratio.

We used a lot of T&D stuff at the race car shop. Their stuff is way better than Jesl. T&D builds very nice stuff, but I have to agree that $$$ is going to be an issue. Also, you will have to make sure that they don't end up with oiling issues like the original RAS had.


The only issue with setting the rockers up for SBC valves is that not everyone uses them, especially since Ferrea has a stock length Slant valve that is a pretty much drop in if you install the smaller guides. SBF is close to Slant length too.

Thats ok I'm just tired of not being able to "mobilize" the slant people so companys know we are out there and want to have parts for our engines made. I'll not bring up the aluim. head here ever again . but I belive if we work as a collective and approach companys it could only benefit us.

Trust me jim cox stuff is good but he is asking 550+s/h these days and he only offers them in 1.6:1 ratios. T&D will give us any ratio we ask for. I've never heard of ras (off hand) but these guys at T&D seemed really keen on giving us a brake.

If any one wants in pm me and then Ill set it up. I just hope I'm not spinning my wheels here.

Now about those Ferrea valves?? I have 11/32 bronze guides do you or any one have a part number for those???

What are the performance benefits of roller rockers. I have heard good and bad things about them. How would they help our slants? How much better are they than stock?

How about bringing some solid information, not just an "I talked to so and so on the phone?". T&D sells high end parts. They want to give us a break, but what is their price on a set of rockers to start with? You do realize that you are asking them to engineer and build a completely new part, right? Can they beat Jim's price? Will we be guinea pigs for their R&D work?

I don't know about anyone else on here, but I am way more tempted to buy parts when given good solid information to consider.

The Erson buy was presented in just such a manner. I bought a cam and lifters I will probably never use just to support that group buy.

I would love to have some high ratio roller rockers but it just isn't in the budget at this time. Maybe later. However, I do appreciate people trying to work with suppliers to get quality parts at a fair price. I'd be all over it if I could afford it.

I bought an Erson cam from the group buy ,,,,it was a good experience....for low $.

Im very unlikely to spend more than $100 on any kind of rocker(s)/fix.

I will hand file for a week before spending $500 on anything (my car cost $350).

Sam, higher ratio rockers can be used to make up for geometry problems when milling, mixing parts, etc.. Higher ratio can also be used to make up for a poor cam choice.

I have tested back to back, same day with my 1.6 rollers against my stock RAS rebuilts. Wanna guess the difference?
